2001: A Space Odyssey

2001: A Space Odyssey

The picture that science fiction fans of every age and in every corner of the world have prayed (sometimes forlornly) that the industry might some day give them. It is an ultimate statement of the science fiction film, an awesome realization of the spatial future. Fifty two years ago, that movie was made by Stanley Kubrik titled  “2001: A Space Odyssey”.

This movie explored different scientific themes such as Human evolution, Artificial Intelligence, Extraterrestrial life which creates a monolith with pure energy. It also has an ambiguous ending which has kept the viewers debating for years.

It features a supercomputer HAL 9000 which turns against its own crew and also kills them; it was a theme that had never been explored before. It is notable for its scientific realism, pioneering special effects, ambiguous and often surreal imagery, sound in place of traditional narrative techniques, and minimal use of dialogue. It is an iconic movie in every sense, also winning an Oscar for Best Visual Effects.

Kubrick made a historic movie, which has been in every list of best science fiction movies since then.
Every space enthusiast must give it a try.
